Job Overview

Responsible for quality control inspection and acceptance for all inks and final product graphic representation.  Works closely with in house ink vendor to assure ink color and properties are within acceptable range and final print quality matches the original control samples.  Responsible for establishing first time run control samples to match original art/color proofs.

Job Responsibilities

  • Verify that all inks are mixed to Amscan requirements
  • Randomly check ink batches to certify color match, PH and viscosity
  • Assist in color correction on press
  • Maintain formulation history for each ink mixed
  • Approve inks and color match for every first run design.  Establish print standard for all new jobs
  • Review production samples from off shifts and verify quality acceptance/issues/improvements
  • Manage ink consignment process and verify ink usage.
  • Audit and calibrate the PH Meters
  • Advise the Machine Operators on the corrective actions to rectify the product output
  • Any other duties assigned by supervisor.

Job Requirements

Education/Skills/Qualifications:

  • Minimum of High School or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in an ink room position, preferably Flexography, with responsibilities including color matching, formulation, Ink usage estimating, problem solving and the correction process for out of Spec ink. 
  • Leadership/Supervisory training preferred.
  • Mechanical aptitude: Ability to understand operational theory of a printing press.
  • Ability to communicate and present information effectively to Supervisor and other employees in verbal or written form.
  • Prior experience in Quality Control

  • Ability to lift up to 25lbs
  • Ability to use hands and arms to reach, bend, push, pull, lift, carry, handle, and feel.
  • Ability to see and identify color
  • Ability to work independently as well as a team player
