Job Overview:

The Benefits Manager serves as a strategic human resources leader responsible for curating, promoting, and championing a set of offerings that meets the health and welfare of team members. You will also ensure our Benefits plans are competitive, sustainable, scalable, and have an impact on the long- and short-term performance of the organization. Maintaining the integrity of Health & Wellness, HRIS database, and the related processes to meet service and compliance expectations is essential. You will manage wellness campaigns to prevent future claims, manage 401(k) plan and its administration, and coordinate the process of the administration of Leaves of Absence and Workplace accommodations.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Interacts with HR professionals and team members regarding benefit plans, enrollment and management providing guidance and interpretation to HR professionals on benefit policies and procedures as well as compliance
  • Provides strategic and tactical leadership in the design, development, implementation, administration, and communication of company’s Total Rewards programs including health, welfare, wellness, retirement, incentives, and other rewards and perquisites.
  • Delivers associate benefits orientation and open enrollment meetings and communication materials
  • Engages in benefit surveys to gather and analyze information on benefits for determining competitiveness
  • Maintains integrity of the HRIS benefits database and troubleshoots, analyzes, detects, identifies, and corrects technical problems and deficiencies. Coordinates, implements, and appropriately communicates system upgrades as needed
  • Trains and assists users in the utilization and operation of HRIS, with a focus on ensuring the HR team is knowledgeable of the benefits systems practices.
  • Partners with Payroll and HRIS Manager to ensure accuracy of systems data
  • Manages efficient administration of benefit plans to ensure customer focused results, including managing the relationships with outside benefits providers/consultants
  • Ensures competitive and cost-effective benefits programs through market analysis and RFP process as deemed necessary.
  • Monitors costs and budget process in conjunction with Manager and VP of Shared People Practices and PCHI Accounts Payable team
  • Identifies, writes, and implements Human Resources policies and guidelines related to Benefits and Leaves in conjunction with the Manager and VP of Shared People Practices
  • Ensures managers and team members are informed of HR related Company objectives, programs, policies, and procedures
  • Ensures all benefits files and records are maintained and preserved in accordance with established company policies and state and federal regulations
  • Ensures compliance and timely mandatory reporting related to the Affordable Care Act and EEO-1 Reporting. Maintains current knowledge of other related government rules and regulations, including the Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA), FLSA, FMLA, ADA, COBRA and other applicable Labor and/or Tax laws and regulations; fulfills compliance and reporting requirements
  • Manages company programs such as Tuition Reimbursement, Leaves of Absences (e.g., disability, FMLA, personal, etc.) and workplace accommodations, in conjunction with Director and Field HRDs.
  • Participate on projects related to mergers and acquisitions to include thorough analysis of employee benefit and compensation designs, integration plans and implementation of transactional changes (as needed)
  • Supervises Benefits Specialist, training for associates, and HRBP’s on changes in Benefits and/or other processes
  • Partners with benefits broker and other vendors to draft written communication and enrollment materials
  • Ensures distribution and receipt of documents and process changes with vendors
  • Leads the management of the PCHI disaster relief fund
  • Provides general Human Resource support as needed & resolves employee requests, complaints, and issues courteously and promptly

Job Requirements

Skills Required: 

  • Comprehensive knowledge of HR systems and benefits programs (Health, 401K, Wellness, etc.)
  • Experience working with external vendors
  • Strong time management needed to prioritize effectively and handle multiple deadlines
  • Extensive knowledge of benefit programs
  • Thorough knowledge of human resource policies and procedures, federal/state laws and regulations
  • Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, exceptional Excel and PowerPoint skills required

Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Knowledge of applicable state and federal laws and regulations, i.e., ERISA, HIPPA, COBRA, FMLA, ADA, and Healthcare.
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive Human Resources experience in HRIS system and benefits
  • PHR, SPHR, CCP, CBP certification a plus (SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP)

Expected Salary Range:

  • $100,560 - $ 125,700

Expected salary range offered for this position is a good faith description of the expected salary range this role will pay. PCHI reserves the right to pay more or less than the stated range based on a variety of factors such as experience, geography, etc.

FLSA Working conditions:   

  • The role is a hybrid status role with three (3) days/week onsite in Woodcliff Lake, NJ office.
