Job Overview:
The Visual Merchandising Expert at Party City plays a critical role in the setting of physical planograms that are both aesthetically pleasing and support the financial plans developed by our Merchants. They collaborate closely with and provide recommendations to key partners in Merchandising, Product Development, Marketing, Communications, Store Operations, and Space & Presentation to develop presentations that highlight product innovations, adhere to our core merchandising standards, and are easy to execute by our field partners. They also have strategic leadership and execution responsibility on most special projects impacting merchandising, marketing/graphics, and fixtures.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Develop creative & compelling presentations (physical POGs), in partnership with our merchants, that engage and inspire our customers while also supporting key merchant financial deliverables, product quality improvements, and inventory plans.
- Assists the development of any Visual presentation that goes above & beyond our standard planograms via easy-to-understand step by step direction & photographs to ease execution at store level (balloon displays, mannequin directives, seasonal displays, specialty fixturing merchandising or marketing).
- Continuously raises the bar on presentation by bringing innovative and inspirational ideas to the table as we look to continue to elevate presentation at Party City.
- Ensure that all Visual Team, Merchant, & Product Development presentations adhere to documented company merchandising standards.
- Maintains the integrity of the Tice POG room and associated storage areas including inventory management activities, signing & labeling, and auditing accuracy of merchandise within sets.
- Monitor & report on low quantities of important supply items to maintain appropriate inventory levels (labels, peg plates, cardboard boxes, zip ties).
- Develops orders of key product needed for directives in partnership with appropriate Merchant & Product Development teams.
- Works closely with VMMs and Sr. VME on Tice POG Room maps & activity trackers to ensure that there are no conflicts with set times of merchandise categories, in accordance with the CSP process.
- Quickly reacts to operational feedback regarding merchandising issues and develops solutions (Seasonal flex space, solving for top stock direction, planogram adjustments like Kids Birthday heights/balloon revisions, and category specific flex direction).
- Executes early sets in stores in partnership with Merchants in our ED businesses.
- Collaboration and execution of key initiatives/tests in our sandbox store (Wayne), in partnership with Merchants & Marketing.
- Partners closely with Merchandising, Product Development, and Marketing to prepare for and execute all leadership walkthroughs of critical Seasonal/ED categories including the creation of display boards and cutting/mounting of marketing materials.
- Special project request execution for key initiatives in Marketing and Merchandising including incremental NextGen requests and new Marketing tests/initiatives.
Skills Required:
- Self-reliant and self-motivated individual that can seamlessly bounce from one priority to another and deliver on projects on tight timelines with little supervision.
- Strong ability to follow both written & verbal instruction with great attention to detail.
- Excellent organizational skills as well as planning, project management, and time management expertise, and must have the ability to work with a team or on their own.
- Strong creative flair and effective problem solving required.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (with a strong emphasis on Excel & Power Point).
Qualifications:
- 5 years of retail experience with some visual merchandising education or experience-based formal training preferred.
- Degree preferred, not required.
- Should have experience merchandising, creating displays, and reading planograms. Portfolios encouraged.
