Job Description

The Vice President, Distribution and Logistics is a member of the company’s Supply Chain leadership team. This role plays a pivotal role in ensuring the seamless flow of products through our supply chain. Responsibilities encompass a wide range of logistics functions, including warehouse management, distribution, logistics, transportation, customer supply chain processes. It is a key resource to drive process efficiency, flow optimization, and make a lasting impact on our organization.

This executive will work closely with functional peers in the development of a Supply Chain Center of Excellence.  This includes developing a standardized supply chain and logistics plans across the enterprise and evaluating to identify opportunities for improved service and cost. 

 

 Responsibilities and Duties:

 

This position will be responsible for:

  • Technology and Innovation: Stay current with logistics technology trends and implement solutions to enhance branch efficiency and customer service.
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive distribution and logistics strategy for technology development aligned with the company's overall business goals and objectives.
  • Distribution: Lead the distribution strategy, ensuring products reach their destinations on time and in the most cost-effective manner.
  • Logistics and Transportation: Manage transportation providers, carriers, and routes to minimize costs and improve delivery performance.
  • Lead and manage the supply chain logistics team, providing guidance, support, and development opportunities to ensure high performance and engagement.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, vendors, and partners to effectively manage sourcing, procurement, and logistics activities.
  • Partner to support inventory management practices and opportunities across the business..
  • Create a robust logistics plan that includes identifying and contracting with key logistics suppliers, optimizing global deliveries and trade / transportation compliance.   
  • Implement strategic sourcing initiatives to identify cost-saving opportunities, oversee favorable contract negotiation, and ensure the availability of high-quality materials and services.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including operations, and finance, to forecast and meet demand while maintaining cost targets.
  • Drive process improvements and implement best practices to streamline supply chain operations, enhance productivity, and reduce lead times.
  • Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) related to supply chain performance and develop action plans to address any identified gaps or areas for improvement.
  • Support supplier negotiations at all levels within the team.  
  • Stay informed about industry trends, market conditions, and regulatory changes that may impact the supply chain, and proactively develop strategies to mitigate risks and capitalize on opportunities.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards in all supply chain activities.
  • Develop and manage the supply chain budget, monitor expenses, and identify opportunities to optimize costs without compromising quality or service levels.

 

Job Requirements

 

 Skills Required:

  • Strong knowledge of supply chain principles, practices, and technologies, including inventory management, demand planning, procurement, negotiations, and logistics.
  • Proven experience in a senior supply chain or logistics role, with a strong track record in warehouse/inventory management, distribution, logistics, transportation, customer supply chain processes, and import and export.
  • In-depth knowledge of supply chain best practices and emerging trends.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute supply chain strategies that drive operational excellence and deliver measurable results.
  • Quality Control: Establish and maintain rigorous quality control processes to ensure products are handled, stored, and transported in accordance with industry standards and customer expectations.
  • Compliance and Safety: Ensure all branches adhere to safety regulations, compliance requirements, and industry standards. Implement and monitor safety protocols to protect employees and assets.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a diverse group of professionals.
  • Exceptional problem-solving, analytical, and strategic thinking abilities.
  • Strong negotiation and contract management skills, with a track record of achieving cost savings and favorable terms.

 Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 15+ years’ experience in various leadership roles, ideally playing a critical role in supply chain transformations.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; an advanced degree would be preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of supply chain principles, practices, and technologies, including inventory management, demand planning, procurement, negotiations, and logistics.
