 Job Overview:

Reporting to the Chief Marketing Officer, the  VP of Ecommerce will play a critical role in developing the ecommerce and digital merchandising strategy. In this capacity, the VP will drive a major growth vehicle for Party City, by elevating the customer’s online experience to deliver digital sales growth. Aligned with our Brand positioning, this requires equal parts product and content storytelling, helping visitors realize their total party vision. The VP role is a highly strategic with digital P&L accountability with responsibility to build functional discipline and expertise across a team of direct reports in UX/UI, digital merchandising, and digital product. This role will partner closely with key partners VP Customer Strategy (CRM) and Performance Marketing to optimize customer acquisition, retention, and loyalty strategy, delivering on key traffic, conversion, and category sales plans. This is an opportunity to be part of reshaping a brands digital experience in a highly fun and engaging category! The VP of eCommerce will also lead the operations and strategic merchandising and expansion planning for third party digital sales channels including Amazon and other consumer marketplaces, which are a strong lever in the company’s digital growth strategy.

 

 Responsibilities and Duties:

 

Strategy Development & Execution

  • Owns the e-Commerce P&L
  • Drives incremental e-commerce sales and profit, inclusive of third-party marketplaces (i.e., Amazon)
  • Builds strategic roadmap for e-commerce growth both near and long range
  • Balances e-commerce sales with strategic brand goals, delivering a website experience that fulfills the total needs of the organization and its customers
  • Continuously assesses site information architecture, navigation, shopper flows and analyzes data to drive sales improvement

 

Site Merchandising

  • Partners closely with Merchandising & Product teams to plan category level sales and margin forecasts for seasonal and everyday business.
  • Leads the team to deliver a fully integrated site merchandising, promotion, and content plan, enabling achievement of strategic sales period plans as well as category level sales plans
  • Leverages data and insights, combined with robust testing to unlock opportunities for accelerated e-commerce sales growth
  • Partners with Brand and Digital Marketing teams to ensure site experience, featured product, content, and experiences represent the site, merchandising and brand strategies
  • Maintains weekly, monthly, and quarterly site performance reporting – identifying success, denoting opportunities, and developing continuous action plans

UX

  • Leads the team to deliver a user experience which delivers on strategic Brand goals such as inspiring parties, providing value, and product differentiation while simultaneously driving sales via UPT, AOV, and conversion rate optimization
  • Leverages the Brands new capabilities for 1:1 personalization across content, product recommendations and site experience; maximizing CLTV

Technology

  • Leads the digital product team, accountable for identifying opportunities to drive KPI improvement and deliver on strategic business needs with back-end development
  • Supports the team in prioritizing and grooming back log, user stories, enhancements, feature/function and maintenance work with a lens of driving sales growth
  • Partners with IT to ensure optimal site performance, enabling both high performing SEO as well as conversion rate integrity
  • Accountable for strategic decisions, in collaboration with IT, on the optimal e-commerce technology stack

Project Management

  • Ensure projects and initiatives are completed timely, within scope, and on budget, with clear alignment to strategic goals
  • Implement project management best practices, tools, and methodologies to drive consistency and success across all key initiatives.

 

Team Development

  • Team Leadership and management to develop a sales and customer journey focused function
  • Empower the team to test & learn by measuring program effectiveness and KPI’s achievement.
  • Develop an e-commerce team with an agile and collaborative approach across DTC, Amazon, and Omni
  • Transformation & Change leadership

Job Requirements:

 Qualifications:

 

  • 15+ years retail eCommerce experience, with a minimum 5+ years leading and managing others
  • Must have experience in P&L accountability +$200M
  • Experience driving sales in third party marketplaces, specifically Amazon
  • Extensive experience in testing methodologies and execution
  • Thrives in a fast-paced environment, able to respond quickly to changing business and customer needs with a lens of speed to market driving sales results
  • Strong executive presence and presentation skills including Board of Director interaction
  • Proficient problem-solver, able to build relationships and collaborate with others.
  • Brings uber curious mindset, continuously seeking improvements in ways of working, efficiencies that prioritize speed to market
  • Strong technical acumen, experience in Agile methodology
  • Salesforce, Adobe and Amplience experience a plus
  • High level of integrity. Professionalism and discretion
